About Ludo King®
Ludo King is a digital version of Ludo, the familiar dice and token game played in many households. It also includes Snakes and Ladders, tournaments and family-friendly features. The rules are simple, and games can be played with friends or against the computer. This page explains the rules and strategy.
The basic rules
Each player has four tokens that start in their home base. You roll a die, and when you roll a six, you can bring a token onto the board. Tokens move around the board according to the number rolled, and the aim is to bring all four tokens to the centre. Landing on an opponent's token sends it back to its base, unless it is on a safe square. Rolling a six gives you an extra turn.
Safe squares
Certain squares on the board are marked as safe, and tokens on them cannot be captured. Using these squares well is the heart of the strategy. Moving a token to a safe square when an opponent is nearby protects your progress.
Strategy
Although luck decides the dice, choices still matter. Decide which token to move based on risk. Move tokens that are in danger first, and capture an opponent when you can do so safely. Do not rush all tokens forward; keep some at home as backup. Try to keep your tokens together on safe squares near the final stretch.
Game modes
You can play with two to six players in various settings. The Snakes and Ladders mode is a simple race, where ladders help you climb and snakes send you back. Tournament modes let you play several rounds against different opponents. Playing with the computer is useful for practice.
Social features
You can play with friends, family or random players online. A voice or text chat option may be available in some modes. Because the game is popular with all ages, it is often used to keep in touch with relatives in other cities. Parents should supervise younger players when using online chat.
Customisation
You can change boards, dice and themes. These are cosmetic and do not alter the rules. Collecting items adds personality to your game.
Daily rewards
The game offers daily goals and rewards, such as dice or coins. They give a reason to return, but you can play without them. Events and seasons add new themes.
Fair play
The game uses digital dice, so outcomes are random. Do not assume that the game favours any player; streaks of sixes or ones happen in any random system.
Free or paid?
The base game costs nothing, and optional purchases plus ads help fund it. Offline play is available against the computer or on one device with friends. Online modes need an internet connection.
Best suited to
It suits families, friends and casual players. It is easy to learn and works well for children. It may not satisfy players who want complex strategy.
Wrapping up
Ludo King is a comfortable, social game that suits a wide audience. Use safe squares, choose moves carefully and enjoy playing with people you care about.
