About Bejeweled Blitz
Bejeweled Blitz condenses the well-known gem-matching puzzle into a fast, one-minute challenge. Instead of long levels, you have sixty seconds to score as high as you can. It is easy to understand, hard to perfect and perfect for short breaks. This page explains the mechanics and some strategies.
The basics
You swap adjacent gems to make lines of three or more of the same colour. Matching removes them, and new gems fall into place. You can often create chain reactions, called cascades, that earn extra points without any additional move. When the timer reaches zero, the round ends and your score is compared with those of friends.
Special gems
Matching four, five or an L or T shape creates special gems. A flame gem explodes nearby pieces when matched, a star gem removes a row and column, and a hypercube clears all gems of one colour. Combining these effects is the path to big scores. Planning to create them rather than relying on luck is the main difference between casual and experienced play.
Speed and the final seconds
At the end of each round, a bonus phase gives extra points for special gems that remain on the board. Because of this, leaving a few special gems unactivated near the final moments can be rewarding. Timing this takes practice.
Boosts and rare gems
Before a round, you can choose boosts that affect the starting state of the board or your multiplier. Rare gems and upgradeable items provide additional bonuses. These can increase scores, but skill still matters more than any boost.
Technical tips
Look at the bottom of the board first, since matches there cause more movement above. Match at the top when you want more control over the board. Keep an eye out for opportunities to make four-in-a-row, as these set up flames and stars. Do not hurry to make every match immediately; a short pause to scan can find a higher-value move.
Challenges and social play
The game offers daily goals and tournaments in which you compare results with friends. These features make quick rounds feel connected. If you are not interested in competition, you can ignore them and treat it as a personal challenge.
Who should try it
It is ideal for anyone who likes quick rounds and improving personal bests. Because there is no long commitment, it fits into small gaps in the day. It is not suited to players who prefer slow, thoughtful puzzle solving.
Price and advertising
The game is free with advertisements and optional purchases, including virtual currency used to buy in-game items. Some purchases include random elements. Parents should use device purchase controls. An internet connection may be needed for events.
Overall impression
Bejeweled Blitz packs a lot of puzzle excitement into sixty seconds. Use special gems intentionally, scan the board quickly and enjoy the thrill of watching a cascade explode across the screen.
