About UNO!™
UNO is a card game that many families have played for decades, and the mobile edition brings it to your phone with online matches and tournaments. The rules are easy to learn, and the games are short. This page explains how to play and how to get better.
The basic rules
Each player starts with a hand of cards. On your turn you place a card that matches the colour or number of the top card on the discard pile. If you cannot, you draw one from the deck. The goal is to be the first to get rid of all your cards. When you have one card left, you must call UNO. Forgetting to do so can lead to a penalty.
Action cards
Special cards add excitement. Skip makes the next player lose a turn, Reverse changes direction, Draw Two forces the next player to pick up cards, and Wild cards let you change the colour. Wild Draw Four is the strongest, but it comes with rules about when it can be played. Using action cards at the right moment is the main strategy.
House rules
The mobile version offers optional house rules, such as stacking draw cards or playing similar cards at once. These change the pace of the game. If you are playing with friends, agree on the rules before you start. For new players, standard rules are easiest.
Game modes
You can play against friends, random opponents or the computer. There are tournaments with rewards, and special events that change the rules. Playing against the computer is a good way to practise without pressure.
Strategy tips
Keep a mix of colours in your hand so that you have more options. Save Wild cards for situations when you are stuck rather than playing them early. Pay attention to the colours that other players struggle with, because they hint at what cards they hold. If an opponent has one card left, use skip or draw cards to stop them. Do not forget to call UNO, since a missed call can cost the game.
Social features
You can add friends and play private games. Quick messages let you communicate in a friendly way. It is a good option for staying in touch with family who live far away.
Family-friendly design
The visuals are bright, and there is no violence. The game is suitable for a wide range of ages, and young players can learn card-matching skills. Supervision is recommended for online play.
Free or paid?
Installing costs nothing, though ads and optional purchases are part of the model. An internet connection is needed for online matches. Use device purchase controls if children play.
Bottom line
UNO on mobile keeps the fun and simplicity of the original. Learn the action cards, choose rules that suit your group and enjoy quick, friendly games.
